At Branches Long Island, we believe every child deserves to feel celebrated on their birthday no matter their family’s circumstances. Our Birthday Program provides children in our community with thoughtfully prepared birthday boxes that may include gifts, party supplies, and special touches to help make their day feel joyful and seen.
For many families facing financial hardship, birthdays can bring stress, disappointment, or painful reminders of what they are unable to provide. Over time, those missed moments can become part of generational trauma which shapes how children view their worth, their memories, and even how they one day parent their own children. By stepping in during these moments, we help break that cycle.
Through this program, we aim to replace loss and lack with joy, dignity, and connection. We help families create positive birthday memories that children carry with them long after the candles are blown out. These moments matter. They build confidence, reinforce a sense of belonging, and remind children and their caregivers that they are not alone. Birthdays aren’t just celebrations; they are opportunities to heal, to restore hope, and to help change the story for the next generation.
PROGRAM REGISTRATION
To ensure we can give each child a thoughtful and meaningful birthday experience, our Birthday Program is opened for a limited number of children each month. Registration is always available one month in advance and spots are filled on a first-come, first-served basis.
